The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
