An individual who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two children aged between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The legal representative added: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.
She said the man continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She stated the man then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
