In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret cult.

The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who accomplish the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This update also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
